Outlaw Country

Outlaw CountryNew Mexico Territory during the 1880s became the wildest area of the west.  Numerous noted outlaws roamed the area robbing banks, stages, and railroads.  Gun battles, murder and mayhem plagued the country, with the small town of Cimarron being the headquarters for the wild bunch.

Cimarron was located in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, a short distance from Santa Fe, in the huge Maxwell Land Grant.

Cole and Chief establish their ranch near Cimarron located on the huge Maxwell Land Grant.  When the crooked politicians known as the Santa Fe Gang try to force them off their land, they get involved in the Land Grant Wars, fighting along side of some of the outlaws, such as Clay Allison and Billy the Kid.

Charles Goodnight, Temple Houston, and Ned Armstrong come to their aid, enlisting the Federal troops stationed at Fort Union.
